  1. Ummm ... to be attacked. NATO is a defensive alliance and cannot just attack unless attacked. It's not complicated.

  2. The rule-of-thumb for attackers in urban warfare is that they die at a 7:1 ratio to defenders. If the Russian army were extraordinarily good, they might reduce that ratio to 4:1 but the Russian army is not good at anything past demolishing buildings at random. Expect the Russians to be dying at an 8 or 9-to-1 ratio right now. The cold weather will turn thousands of the poorly supplied attackers into popsicles.

  6.  @joelmccoy9969  Europe is warm, anyway. They used to have a skating race on the canals of Amsterdam and they had to move it to the Rideau Canal in Ottawa Canada because it stopped freezing in Holland a half century plus ago. It gets pretty cold in Ottawa, i'll tell you ... colder than Moscow.

NATO was in Kosovo at the invitation of the UN.The operation derives its mandate from United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999) and the Military-Technical Agreement between NATO, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Serbia. They were brought in to stop the genocides that the Serbs and others were conducting. Serbia was not "invaded" but some of their infrastructure was destroyed for sure. By the way, during an earlier UN mission, one of the NATO members ... Canada ... ended up fighting a battle in Bosnia in which the Canadians PROTECTED 1000 Serbs from being butchered by the Croat army. I doubt that the Serbs bother to remember them. They treated the Canadians like crap during that whole deployment. To think that the Serbs were actually their allies through two world wars .....
