  2. the magnetic exploder could be forgiven, geomagnatism wouldn't really be well understood till much later, but the fact that nobody bothered to just DROP THE DAMN THINGS off a tower in 20 years of development was an absolute sin, they would have found the flaws with the contact detonator by that testing alone

  3. you know, the japanese blowing up mark 14 torpedo stocks was probably a boon. BeuOrd would have probably gotten their way if they had hundreds of torpedoes vs commanders arguing for the need to even sink anything with their limited numbers of weapons
