@johnbrearley9791 war elephants had a very good psychological advantage, if you didn't know how to deal with them you might think they're going to crush you. I've heard opposing views on whether they were actually combat effective though, some say that proper disciplined trained troops and correct formations just made them silly novelties, great for lunch later on, others say that even with that the elephants could be tough to fight

seems like the Dreadnought could be a candidate, though where the limited technology/warfare perspective ends and rule of cool begins is tough to say, very few battleships actually fought other battleships or any ships for that matter, and so what worked against other battleships was almost pure speculation itself
