  1. the way to build low cost housing is a standardized design, densely constructed on a large enough scale to be affordable. most of the 'low cost' housing projects announced in my city have been ~20% or less of the project's total units, and efforts to build low cost housing in the towns around have been killed by NIMBYs who think it'll devalue their property
