Oh war in Alaska would be fantastic, the Russians barely have amphibious capability and virtually no navy in the pacific, whereas the US navy.... well we still have a few ships in the pacific

What you don't believe in bringing your daughter to work, even if you're a super duper secret agent?
43
pacifism isn't standing by and letting horrible things happen, pacifism is fighting to preserve peace and prevent war
41
depends, its unlikely they will make it go chernobyl, but they could melt a core out of ignorance, especially if russian staff unfamiliar with the modficiations to the reactors decide to bring it up to power again. 4 of the power units have been modified to use westinghouse fuel assemblies meaning the reactors have different characteristics. now they could blow up a fuel cask out of spite and that would be an act of pure evil, but it would also poison crimea which is down river

letting politicians meet with each other regardless of intentions is a cornerstone of the global order even. We know russia and china plan nasty stuff together but we don't say we'll shoot down their planes if they meet, letting diplomats talk and travel is more important

gay marriage wasn't an extreme idea, the state had literally no secular argument against it along the same ways the state had no secular arguments against gay sex
7
or just an oligarchy. The current state of the gop is because people didn't vote for decades letting those that voted accumulate power and gains, then suddenly trump got a bunch of apathetic voters to vote and the gop freeked the fuck out because he pushes them to give him all the power and gains instead

Look its always democrats and the left that for some reason are closed minded and have to get out of their bubble, never ever the right that has to come over and understand the left. the right is always inherantly right for no reason
2
supposedly the US helped plan and sim the offensive with ukraine and convinced them of a more tightly focused operation, so this might be better than what they did back in may
2
the "Its not a democracy its a republic" argument that proves someone can't understand the nuance of a republic being a democracy, and ours specifically one where you elect representatives as well as directly enact laws. But everybody gets told this in highschool at some point and they repeat it verbatem as if its a fact
2
I don't think China has drank enough of their own koolaid to actually invade taiwan not like Russia did with Ukraine but hey we can't prove they won't. Also the speaker didn't visit on a military jet
2
Black conservatives get a lot of flack because they're not consistent in their views and flip flop all over the place to tow the party line. Tom Scott is a great example, voting against stuff he advocates for when democrats bring it up to vote, even voting down his own bills
2
Its funny how Dark Brandon is cringe but Lets Go Brandon is all fun and games even though its just cryptofascism. Like just put up a Fuck Joe Biden sign instead of being a cryptofacist
2
doubtful but if ukraine can push back and take back the region north of crimea, it would put them on a great footing
2
Like Jeff Flake, she's got few friends on the left, and no friends on the right.

at the end of the day Elon does not have the clout to fight the military industrial complex. If they want starlink, they get starlink, even if that means marching to the hill, sitting 51 senators and 218 congresscritters into a room and telling them what happens if Elon cuts off Ukraine, you don't cross the Pentagon especially if they're busy fighting a war
1
@Stabilization It's not that we would be surrendering Alaska's population to the Russians. In ww2 the strategy was to let the Japanese have the land they took and occupy the larger population centers, leaving them to starve, which they did
1
@evang.4523 It all depends on how they claim what their territory is, what happens if or when Russia anexes more chunks of ukraine and then get kicked out? we just don't know what their nuclear policy is these days because they threaten everything with nukes
1
it would seem to be an implaussably massive oversight if the pentagon wasn't funding starlink, they have contracts with SpaceX already, I think Elon is either unaware or just making things up to push a narrative. the longer term goal is to transition them to ground and soaced based NATO standard equipment
1
I worry what they'll do if or when this reaches the nuclear power plant
