  6. i used to lap with Isopropyl alcohol, similar properties but wd40 is probably not great for computer parts. also a profilometer and a surface plate are going to work better than a mic, though its gonna be hard to make sure the card is flat to begin with

  7. the thing is the manufacturers do lap their dies, its part of the silicon process, just not after they've been mounted to a card

  9. the three hit punch of low production, back to school shopping and mining just wiped out inventory. Microcenter was OK on stock until the end of august when every rich parent who might be inexperienced with PCs went out and bought up all the 20 series cards to shove into a box so their kids can go to school online, then the new cards didnt have the supply either

  11. problem is that a lot of these system builders are now downgrading their prebuilts to lower tier gpus, so you're paying an awful lot for basically a sub-par gpu
