  1.  @LeeePowers  art is frustratingly one of the few places that rich people can funnel money through without any oversight or taxes. Basically Rich Guy A wants to pay Rich Guy B under the table, Rich Guy B gets an 'artist' to make some art, and then puts up a gallery. Rich Guy A can now buy art from Rich Guy B and it looks like a legitimate sale, but he can pay whatever he wants for basically anything

  2. art galleries probably aren't paying nearly as much, its very likely they are on a temporary contract
