God we lost Douglas Adams too early

my gas stove doesn't work in a power outage, there's safety valves and that's like a 20 year old stove though being plugged in you could theoretically use a backup battery to light it

they're absolutely terrible especially the whitegas stoves which use the same system

kind of agree with this, I worked 3rrd shift job where there were things that had to be done on a specific timetable every night, and the time had to be recorded for various tests. Everything was like 20-30 minutes of walking apart so it was easy enough to gage if an hour and a half went by just by mentally adding one rotation plus 1/2 of a rotation, which was the maximum time between tested samples. often we had to adjust samples because the last shift left us with a sample half an hour early and we wanted ideally to leave 1st shift with an hour before their first sample. Being sleep deprived, just mentally moving the hands around was easier than adding times. Sometimes I had to break out an excel sheet but that was for weird rotations.

the pump is weird and you have to actually use it to understand. you twist it, then cover the hole but you don't have to uncover it

technically you should use the colman filter funnel because it doesn't spill, has a siphon, and keeps crud from fouling up the tank which can block that nozzle

kinda surprised this thing still used a distributor, I had a car from just a couple years after this and it was a cheap pos but it didn't have a distributor

I've had luck putting a layer of varnish over the glass before applying the paint. I was making glass bulbs with my warhammer paints last year and I've yet to set up and try it again this year. the varnish will stick to the glass, and the paint will stick to the varnish. Just make sure the glass is absolutely clean

this is the problem I have with Hyundai. their vehicles are fine, and the ionics are innovative but their service suuuuuucks. its not tesla bad but they just can't seem to ever actually fix anything

I find that in the old days electrical switch wiring was done completely lazy. these days there's much more thought to it. I'm getting my house re-paneled, and the electrician is going to put each room on its own breaker instead of a circuit for lights that powers 2/3rds of the house. Since a lot of houses in the US were built in the 50s-70s they tend (at least from my experience) to have 1 or 2 circuits for all the outlets and then everything else gets a dedicated circuit
