  1. He should have walked Westwards where the sun goes down in the evening and opposite to where the sun rises in the morning. I don't think he was too intelligent.

  2.  @Disgruntled_Dave  Because his race track was to the east of morocco and walking in the direction of where the sunsets in the evening would make him closer to population.
