If there had been no British Empire there would be no India, Meaning that there would just be a pack of warring states, Muslim vs Hindu, no common language, no industrialization, probably now most of them would have become either marxist or fundamentalist. There is no way that a person from India can get around this. You can imagine that some benign power in India would have united the sub continent and instituted reforms and brought them into the modern world but what is the probability of that? Very damn small.

@rassilkrishnan3120 I know the history quite well. I stand by what I said. There would be no modern India as we know it without the British.

@rassilkrishnan3120 maybe, maybe not, you are assuming that they might not have gotten help from their fellow coreligionist in the near east. There is also no reason to believe that the Hindu powers would not have fought each other.

@nikodimus86 no way to know that, and I would guess you are greatly over estimating the power of British Int. since in the most part they were bumbling bureaucrats.
