He didn't give you a good answer to your first question. As an older man I can answer that. People who used to be liberals always fell into two camps, the hard core marxists who were not actually liberal at all, and the moderate left wing people who you could have real discussions with and who never thought that the left had all the answers or that the right was always wrong. Over time those type of liberals just disappeared. Now they are no where to be found. All that remains are the people who are in the woke cult or the few who are still hard core marxists.
