  1. When two people struggle together, when they are young and happy together, in that special time before the first child arrives. That is when bonding takes place. That is the basis for a really good long term marriage. I know what I am talking about because I will be married for 40 years this year. If of course you marry a woman who is already past her best years and especially she has children, you will not get any of that. Those marriages don't last.

  2. I don't buy it that men are all that superficial. Yes we want to be attracted to her but I have known LOTS of men who were happy marrying women who were not very good looking, as long as they had other virtues. I have not know many women who were happy in (well any relationship) a relationship with a man they were not really attracted to.
