you earned it. and besides what did men our age do before video games, they watched TV which is really wasteful or they got involved in expensive hobbies like golf. Not really any better.

As for your argument, "Imagine if you did something else with your time" It really is a false argument. Because the average person will not spend that extra time on anything better. Reading? depends entirely on what you read. Physical activity? Sure but there is only so much of that you can do in one day. Other hobbies? they are not productive and are often costly. Your argument is true so some extent but not really.

It is like any other pass time or hobby, yes you do gain a certain amount of internal reward for playing them. Just the same as golfing, fishing, etc. Now of course you can always go too far. You need physical activity. But to demonize it worse than anything else is just false.

well since people are not working any way... I would love full immersive VR. I would program a simulation in which any guy could be the college football hero and bang the cheerleaders. Much more fulfilling than real life.

And that is great, it really is, not knocking it. However what are you spending your money on? It's a philosophical question. If you have a purpose and goal then great, but if you are working more and harder just to work then why? I could be working right now, have been offered jobs, but I retired early because you realize that life is short and quite frankly at my age I would rather fool around in my wood shop, watch videos, garden and play games than to put up with all the nonsense and horrible people in a work environment.
