  1. I believe that the best explanation for all of this and other sites is that there have been several waves of immigration to the Americas. Those who settled in difficult climates perhaps never expanded to a large population, or even died out. I have absolutely no problem believing that people could cross large ocean areas with kayaks or rafts.
