In my opinion it is the best suv in this segment. Gorgeous, elegant looks inside and out. Interior materials are perfect. The 3.5TT engine is a gem and perfect for this heavier vehicle. Well done Genesis

Can't believe Genesis gave you two GV70s with the plain black interior instead of the gorgeous interior color options

Great job on this Thomas. I have to say I was surprised to see the amount of piano black plastic in both of these flagship vehicles considering something like a Genesis G80 have figured out how to have no piano black plastic. The touch capacitive buttons in the S Class would drive me up a wall. Honestly not a fan of either of these offerings but would go Panamera if it had to be one or the other.

I think at this point BMW exterior design team has no idea what an attractive design looks like. Everything they touch, they ruin. Much uglier than the outgoing X7, but that appears to be the goal of BMW now. Make ugly vehicles, check. The piano black plastic key fob just adds insult to injury from BMW.

Really nicely done. Fully agree with your points. Interestingly, with the Genesis GV70 listened to you and raised its main selector wheel inside to match the transmission gear selector knob so hopefully they update the GV80 with it. As far as the GV80 goes, it is so gorgeous inside and out. Bespoke and elegant. I would buy this over the bland Germans even if it doesn't have the ride quality sophistication. The interior is refreshing with warm, inviting materials and colors. No piano black plastic inside or a million LCD displays is refreshing. I want one.

Genesis easily make the best looking luxury products. The design is elegant and bespoke. Love the colors Genesis offers inside and out. Quilted leather looks so luxurious while also keeping physical controls/knobs which is all I want in my new car.

Lexus and Alfa by far sounded the best to me. Bentley the worst

Just can't get over how unattractive the exterior is. Would never spend money on something this unattractive.
7
Thomas you do realize this is the lightest vehicle in its class, right?

These always remind me of why I used to like German cars. Such a great car. Miss these days when it was about driving and not screen size/mood lighting. What a great sounding engine
7
Love the design inside and out. The tactical, physical controls inside are a welcome addition that many in this segment has sadly moved away from. Love that everything is such high quality and a joy to touch. Really like what Genesis has done here.

Hmm not an improvement in my mind. Really not a fan of the touch capacitive interior. Sliders will cause accidents. The dual fake exhaust is insulting.
5
Personal Computer the praising of the exhaust note is when I started thinking this was sponsored content. Thomas is a fantastic reviewer where as this guy appears to be not.

So much want. Sounds just fantastic. The Tremec manual gearbox makes it worth it alone compared to GT's garbage Getrag manual gearbox. Makes a huge difference

Interior is quite dissapointing with all the piano black plastic especially at this price point. Had the same complaint on the Audi version of this car as well
4
The 4 cylinder with a manual transmission option would have been perfection. Shame Toyota won't do it. Would be my pick of the range. Doors this still have some buffeting issues when the the driver window is down?

great video!

Cadilacs problem is the horrible platics used in the inside and ugly gauges. They are not at Audi level but ask the same price. When Thomas was adjusting the seats, all I could think was how horribly cheap even the seat adjuster buttons look. Either lower the price and offer the 2.0T engine or fix the interior.
2
I prefer him to Thomas only because Thomas talks so quiet I can't understand him sometimes. Both are great
2
Honestly fantastic review AJ! Big shoes to fill in for and I feel you nailed it.

Love the design inside ad out. Bespoke and elegant. No piano black plastic inside is refreshing and un-German like. Actual hard buttons is Appreciated as well. Love the steering wheel. A refreshing take on luxury that isn't all about having you teeth rattle loose while driving. Proper luxury offering.
2
Definitely prefer the Stelvio QV compared to this. Not a fan of the awkward proportions/looks of this Grecale. Still not clear why Maserati dragged its feat on this rebadged Alfa. Zero interest in an electric Maserati
2
///M [R]S totally disagree. Auto blip shift that can't be disabled in normal modes. Engine that sounds like a diesel. The RS3 with its unique engine and sound are far more of a future classic
2
VW cost cutting interior/tech has me immediately writing its new vehicles off. The touch capacitive everything is poor at best. Happy they worked on some of the lag the infotainment system had but still not fully fixed. Not sure how some of there half baled tech ideas of VW made it into there production vehicles.
2
The Germans have finally succeeded in making the entire front clip a giant grille. Much prefer the prior gen looks, size, and sound. Sad they kept the power distribution 50/50 and not a rear bias like a real sports car. Would get the A45 S with the superior dynamics and looks
2
Autogefühl okay fair. I'm sorry, I misunderstood you.

Shame they picked one of the worst Jeep products to base this off of. Hopefully it drives much much better than its Jeep Compass counterpart.
2
The exterior is a miss to me. Reminds me of the awkward looking EQS. Really not a fan of Mercedes design language.
2
Looks like a grinning shark. Not a fan of its styling or autonomy.
2
love the reviews. Wish they had the S1 here in the States. Ford makes the ugliest interiors regaurdless of price. They really need to step up.

+Autogefühl My fault. Thank you sir!

Love Thoma! Always does such an amazing job. Great work!

Pretty sad that Alfa rebadged a Jeep Compass. I don't think this is what Sergio had envisioned for the brand when it was revived. Fwd based CUVs are dime a dozen and I seen nothing special here with this toenail. The direction Alfa is going is very depressing

Great job on this Thomas. Was excited to see what Mazda would do with this rwd based platform but it seems to be a let down in some areas. The exterior styling I'm not the biggest fan of compared to the gorgeous CX-5. The fake exhaust finishers are an eye sore along with the headlights. Inside is fine but Mazda's rules of limited touchscreen is frustrating for Apple Carplay/Android Auto. Appreciate the physical buttons found inside the cabin. Hoping the inline 6 engine offers some better driving dynamics than this PHEV. Was hoping for something more dynamic, but maybe I expect too much from the former Zoom, Zoom company.

It's a rocket

Really do not care for this design/car. It looks very cheap inside and out. Without the top trim with all options the interior is all plastic. Very American, very fat. I feel the Passat is way better han this weakly powered offering. This is very inline with the Atlas as the excellent reviewer elegantly said "interior as of most recent VW". Shame that this use to be an affordable German product and now a cheaply built, American orientated product.

Sounds and looks quite bad. Not sure why you would want something that sounds like a modern F1 vehicle.
