@SiFiFreak and again, the scene may have called for actor alec to point the weapon at the camera (where the director of photography would be positioned). And again, CONTRACTUALLY WITH THE UNIONS, an ACTOR isn’t expected to do the job of the CREW. They separate SAG and IATSE for a reason. (Edit: baldwin the business man is entirely liable for the hiring/firing of the armorer; alec the actor does not have liability.)

@SiFiFreak when a blank is employed and the crew is at a safe distance for a blank round, then the camera operator would have been safe. A live round travels farther than a blank round due to the amount of firing power the live round has over the blank round.
