  1. American copyright law does protect filed dance moves (which must have accompanying diagrams). It is highly doubtful that 'The Carlton' is copyrighted outside of Alphonso Ribiero's movements as that dance 'move' would belong to NBC as it was part of that work made for hire (Ribiero's 'the Carlton -- who is a haracter also owned by NBC).
