  2. Apply Occsm's razor. Simplist, most reasonable answer to this mystery is likely the real answer. That being said, Ancient Egyptian Adventurers ventured to The Americas, very long ago, before Columbus. There is other evidence that backs this up. No, the academics DO NOT WANT OLD ESTABLISHED IDEAS OVERTURNED. Too darn bad I say. Any established, accepted theory is only supposed to stand until new evidence proves differently.
