  8. in optimization theory they teach steepest descend method first and the guys with degrees in economics and management, future suits basically, are too dumb to understand it's often suboptimal and gives bad results long term and to remember more complex and applicable methods later in their life working in corpo. so at the end of the day they always overvalue ultra short term profits (or cutting losses by killing good studios) against long term sustainability and cumulative profits.

  26. taking you out of the goal oriented mindset is about the game for sure, especially that monastery quest. it is so good at it that this is annoying. when you get there first the game kind of breaks your protective shell and forces you to drop your marker-to-marker, goal-to-goal and trigger-to-trigger mentality. to survive the quest you have to immerse yourself in this situation to a fault first and literally live through it. at the moment this quest is WTF, but retrospectively it is very special in a good way and one of its own kind.

  27. helping other "random" countries actually makes sense. one - the us is benefitting financially and economically from its hegemon role. second - the us is paying third parties to effectively do its bidding. let's take ukraine and suppose you don't support them for 50-100bil per year. next thing you know is ru annexed a population of 40mil which is a huge pool of possible conscripts, tons of military equipment and so on. so instead of paying or dumping some oldass munitions and vehicles you have to go and literally fight yourself for poland, baltic states or romania and against much stronger force than ru is now or was before 2022.

  36. there're certainly some access media aspects as well as reviewers psychology with givin the safe score, but the main reasons for 7/10 games are normal distribution and survivor bias. firstly, we don't even consider really trashy games outcide of mainstream production which makes the whole 10 digit system effectively 4-5 (same goes for movies - the score below 6 is rarity there if we're talking mainstream). then there's just the bell curve - the majority of game lie in the middle with around 7 out 10 score.

  38. just sort possible candidates for a permanent visa (not neccessarily h1b) into desirable/nondisirable groups or tier and then take in unlimited number highest tier of people. like if you are an engeneer or a doctor with 5+ years of experience then in you go, with out indentured servitude contract bs. you don't need to legally force these people to keep on the employment, believe you me, that's what they want and will pursue in the first place. and people who are willing to move across the world are extremely motivated to do so.

  46. she lives with her mother because her mother's house is extremely oversized for her alone. in europe it's considered pretty normal for a family of 4 to live in a 130 suqare meters (around *10 for sq feet), it's not huge by any means but it is decent and adequate. now her mother's house is what - 2000-3000 square feet? and so is the newely constructed houses. no wonder you can't afford a house that is 2-3 times too big for you. for a girl and her boyfriend it's more than enough to live in a 800 sq feet one bedroom one bathroom house that won't be worth 600 grand as a 6 bedroom abomination.

  48. 1:10:59 wait, how do you defend yourself without going outside if the attacks come from outside your borders? like you can intercept missiles going your way, but can't bomb the launch cites? or you can repel the invaders, but can't go for their bases in their territory? you attack wherever the source of the threat is. and if they use/occupy residential building or hospitals then any military would attack them during a war. and like in any war there would be civilian casualties. but the casualties aren't the same for the aggressor and for the one defending itself. if a guy shanks you he's a felon, if you shank him back it's selfdefense. the same action with the same outcome is treated differently by the law. same with countries (our country like formations, whatever) fighting eachother. and i doubt that israel is targeting civilians intentionally. in fact it's a common knowledge (even caught on camera by anti israely so called journos) that they use non-destructive munition prior to the real strike to alert civilians. ps: and no, the us doesn't pay for everything israel does, they actually have a pretty strong economy to fund most of their actions. 10-20b they get from the us is nothing compared to the total spendings.
