  1. helping other "random" countries actually makes sense. one - the us is benefitting financially and economically from its hegemon role. second - the us is paying third parties to effectively do its bidding. let's take ukraine and suppose you don't support them for 50-100bil per year. next thing you know is ru annexed a population of 40mil which is a huge pool of possible conscripts, tons of military equipment and so on. so instead of paying or dumping some oldass munitions and vehicles you have to go and literally fight yourself for poland, baltic states or romania and against much stronger force than ru is now or was before 2022.
