@TheImperatorKnight Gender in German isn't random. If it ends in E it's probably feminine, guess that way. If it has no ending it's masculine or neutral, go for neutral, no one gets offended. If it ends in ER or R it's probably masculine, guess that way. Your objective is not to speak Perfectly but simply to read and understand. So don't get hung up on grammar. I love Chinese deeply, but it's also my capstone language. ... German puts the completed verb at the end of the sentence, otherwise its word order is like English. So you say "I will to the store going (Ich werde zum Kaufhaus gehen). That verb at the end is tricky for Anglos and most languages don't do that. Constructed words. In German you can jam any number of words together to make a new word! So verzeichen ok ver means to do something completely and possibly improperly; zer means to do it completely and improperly. zeichen means sign, to sign. So "verzeichen" means to completely denote something. Kriegs-ab-zeich-nung: War-from-sign-ing i.e. medal. Russian will be MUCH easier After German do not try to learn Russian until you are comfortable reading German. German is very much like English - except in the ways it's like Russian. It's your perfect bridge language. Stay motivated, you can do it!
