You're allowed to say "wouldn't the price mechanism be more efficient" but you're also allowed to be told your very foolish for thinking war, where large groups of people in the tens of millions are literally trying to kill each other, is commparable to peace, where they are not. Let's bribe the bad guys! Can we buy bullets from the enemy? Scarcity and abundance aren't the drivers: who are we going to try to kill today, and how are we going to avoid being killed are the drivers. Guess what? Those are not economically negotiable transactions. It's economic reductionism and it's really stupid.
