  2. Hitler invaded Poland because he did not think the British would call his bluff. Hitler invaded Poland to get land for food and more Germans for soldiers. The war decision was also driven by ideology: anti-communist ideology. Hitler expected Britain would be glad to see German, the anti-communists, setting out to put the communists in their place. It was not an economic decision beyond the "lets get grain". The economy was doing ok with remilitarization, Schacht was an economic genius. I'm surprised if anyone doesn't see all this it's really obvious.
