No fuel, low ammunition, malnutrition, it is really questionable whether Paulus at any point could have broken out, and certainly couldn't sometime around mid december.

I will watch this of course, though I wonder up front whether you consider the angle that Paulus was a traitor and if so from when. You don't just magically get rehabilitated from Nazi general to Kommissar of police in East Germany.

It's a big "unknowable" however may go to the question of how effective pre war Nazi efforts at destabilization of the USSR were. There are many big questions which are not knowable but which can be constrained to a range of probable cases. It's certain Paulus flipped: but when? More or less there is an enormous intelligence story in the USSR Nazi interactions from 1920 to 1945 which has not even been described let alone detailed. (And it has relevancy for current Russian intelligence issues).

A real what if is whether and how Finland could have helped Jodl to take Murmanks and Arkhangel. I don't think no Murmanks would have meant a Soviet defeat but it would have put a real crimp in the USSR's war fighting capacity.

Paulus was under orders not to break out. In that sense, blameless for not breaking out.

Which is also the time where they thought the air bridge would work again. (As you correctly point out).
