  1. What I really wonder is why the nazis decided to fight in Stalingrad as opposed to beseige and starve it as in Leningrad. This is devil's logic of course; how to kill off as many Russians as possible regardless of age or sex. By fighting the nazis guarantied they would take casualties; when you are fighting an enemy with twice as many bodies you want to avoid taking casualties. SO... given their genocidal goal, why did the nazis fight in Stalingrad or fight for it? Strategically all they needed was to cut the Don. Genocidally they could have besieged and not fought inside the city. Soviets had a close combat advantage. Stalingrad battle looks increasingly irrational from the nazi perspective.

  2.  @artiomzh5042  Stalin fostered what in English would be called "Great Russian nationalism" (Российский) (so does Putin). Dugin and Navalniy in contrast promote all-Russian i.e. россияне nationalism. USSR never abandoned its claimed ideal of internationalist socialism; instead the suppression of nationalist tendencies was simply halted during the war. Stalin was not a Nazbol, though some nazbols might call themselves Stalinist. TIK thinks there is some ideological contradiction irony or negationism in the revival of great-Russian nationalism. Hey, it was also a great time to be an Orthodox Christian, so why not pick up on that contradiction too? Thing is.. this ideological bullshit really doesn't matter when your family behind enemy lines are literally being shot starved and worked to death.

  3. Axis would still be about 20% deficit even with Caucasian petrol resources but 80% of what you need is much better than 40%.

  4.  @fiddlersgreen2433  I think he meant all the caucasian oil coz yeah, just Maikop's oil alone no way. Also in English we say "drilling" for oil rather than "mining" (unlike some languages )

  6. @tracey Stephens Except we know from the air raid of Ploesti just how costly and ineffective that would be, only this time even further; and Hitler btw had already taken Crete to prevent exactly what you describe. No fighter escort means the bombers lose 1/4 of their number each and every time. There's a reason there was no second raid of Ploesti. Regensburg, much closer, was also terribly costly for little gain. They don't have nukes, Yet.

  8. Laibach: Are Laibach national socialist? Or international socialist? The fact that Laibach can make art which is self-consistent and invokes imagery of fascism and communism is an interesting proof of TIKs point - that these are authoritarian socialist systems, which seek to coopt workers into dictatorship to wage wars of aggression. This doesn't mean you cannot be a social democrat or internationalist: in fact, capitalism drives you to diversity because more people means more markets.
