  1. The problem with "revisionist" as a term is that it refers either to neo-fascists trying to whitewash Hitler's line. The same term "revisionist" is also used to refer to people who deviate from the communist party's line. The dark ages really were dark ffs e.g. black plague, constant wars, superstition instead of science. Thanks Catholic royalist dictatorships! So yeah. GL with your crusade here :/

  2. Trying to rehabilitate a term which is used as a pejorative by anti-liberal communists AND liberal democrats is an uphill battle (and probably unwinnable). Distorian is however a clever term.

If that were true then there was no renaissance; crop rotation, harnesses which no longer choked cows tilling land, compass, astrolabe, sextant all these things were not invented during the dark ages because everyone believed in God not science and the world was plagued with constant wars but all that great religious faith. They were Dark ages in lots of senses. And the fact they WERE dark i.e. ignorant and poor is reflected in the fact that despite catholic distorians trying to whitewash their variety of dictatorship oh whats the use yes it was not a renaissance there was no renaissance nor any concentration camps or gulags
