@wesleydahar7797 1.) Okay, that doesn't matter here. 2.) People refuse to say it as a form of protest, not necessarily to distance themselves from or disown their country. 3.) A teacher working for a public school is a government employee. If she compels someone say the pledge, that would qualify as "the government [...] forc[ing] an individual [...] to support certain expression." Literally the from the first sentence of the first result when you google "Compelled Speech Meaning". Anyone who argues that refusing to say the pledge isn't protected by the first amendment has a warped mindset, they do not understand what the pledge says, or they are against the Bill of Rights. How can I make this simpler to understand?

@wesleydahar7797 What kind of poe's law take is that? We take the Pledge in public schools because its a tradition that was started by our government in 1892. The Pledge of Allegiance is an explicit pledge of loyalty to this country, so any individual is protected by the First Amendment should they refuse to say that. The Pledge goes beyond the classroom, so it's really weird that you'd chalk refusing to do it up to "disobedient children not listening to the teacher", and then throw this weird anarchy jab in at the end. Like who are you??

@wesleydahar7797 And lets not joke around here. The only reason you're defending the Pledge with such intensity on a video about LGBT+ Rights is because you care more about the "under God" part than the "one nation" part. At least be honest with the rest of us bud.

@wesleydahar7797 As I have repeated, people refuse to say the Pledge as a form of protest, though I'm sure some have used it was a way to disown and distance from the country in the past. Frankly, I don't agree that it's a good way of going about protesting either. Here's the kicker: It doesn't matter what you or I think of it. Protests (that don't hurt people) are protected under the First Amendment. End of story.

@wesleydahar7797 I agree that you should stick around and fix stuff instead of abandoning it. That's not what I'm talking about. Whether or not you or I think it's a bright idea, it's protected free speech. In the exact same way that homophobia and racism are free speech, so is this. Brother I'm not sure there's much else I can do to make you understand my point. It's not about whether or not we agree with these people; it's about their right to express their thoughts in non-violent ways.

@wesleydahar7797 Standing for/saying the Pledge is not a requirement. It is perfectly within someone's First Amendment rights not to do so. If a (PUBLIC) school forces someone to say the Pledge, that is unconstitutional.
21
@wesleydahar7797 Bro I'm not agreeing with people who don't say the Pledge, but it's used as a form of expressing discontent with how things are. No one is "OFFENDED HAHAAH TRIGGERED" by the Pledge because we're defending someone's First Amendment rights to not say it. Take your meds old man.

Freetlejuice is a national treasure that must be protected.

Pennsylvania stands as the barrier between the North and the South. We turned them around over a hundred years ago, and now we need to do it again. Pennsylvanians, do your very best to get this parasitic homophobia-bordering-on-fascism far away from our beautiful state.

Wow. I was watching this thinking it was somewhere in the South until the lovely lady at 5:42 showed up. I must say, as a Pennsylvanian, I am disgusted to see this hateful behavior creeping this far North.

I've always found it funny that these people are completely okay with federal police dispersing rioters in Portland (i think) after they damaged/destroyed government property, but it's a tyrannical dictatorship coming down on true patriots when they do the same thing.

You are allowed to omit parts of it or completely not say/stand for it at all.

@wesleydahar7797 You unironically called me an anarchist when I tried to explain to you what protected free speech is, and you've been arguing with every single person below this comment who has said the same thing. But yeah dude, you really owned the libs by making your little snide comment while running with your tail between your legs instead of actually saying something vaguely intelligent lmao

@InitialDraal You are insane, and would probably rank near the top in the former society, whatever that was trying to represent.
