  4.  @SDeeznutz999  ​ Right, but Russia was a Soviet within the *Soviet Union*, which is the Union of the *Soviets*. Uzbekistan was a Soviet. Belarus was a Soviet. Ukraine was a Soviet. That's like saying that Pennsylvania is (or was) the United States because the Capitol is (or was) in Philadelphia. (I'm using Philadelphia here because it was/is legally a part of the State of Pennsylvania, whereas Washington DC is technically a distinct legal district, but I hope you understand my analogy here.)

  5.  @aAverageFan  Ukraine's borders were created in December of 1991 when it left the Soviet Union and gained independence. It's borders are currently not being respected by the Russian Federation.
