Russia has shown Ukraine that neutrality is suicide. Ukraine wants to pivot westward, and it needs the help of NATO to do this.

@christinakiki75 What? The Maidan protests were all because the elected official lied about joining the European Union and instead maintained Ukraine's Russian pivot. Ukraine did the whole Maidan thing precisely because they wanted to stop being dragged down by the dying Russian Empire. And for the record, NATO or "the west" aren't countries. Russia's war in Ukraine is one country attempting to annex the lands of another country. Eastern European nations joining NATO because they fear a Russian invasion aren't doing it because NATO is annexing their territory. They're joining a mutual defense alliance to protect themselves from Russia.

@christinakiki75 I sincerely recommend Kraut's video on neutrality, and why it was a death sentence for Ukraine (and some other nations as well).

Peterson is an intelligent man, which is why I'd wager that about 80% of what he says makes a lot of sense. This video falls into the 20%. We need to stop falling for the idea that Russia is some threat (economically, militarily, or even in the nuclear aspect), especially after almost two straight years of them demonstrating the opposite.

@ELAYPRESS Did he really say that "Europe" invaded Russia? He really is just spitting Russian state propaganda to millions of people. Not to "good ol days" you, but I feel like Russian propaganda could not reach this many people in the 20th century, js :/

Agreed! It's good to see that people are finally turning away from sources like Russia Today for updates on geopolitics!

I wouldn't trust a Starbucks barista to fly a helicopter in the same way I wouldn't trust a Philosopher for an informed opinion on geopolitics. I sincerely recommend William Spaniel or Vlad Vexler for a more factual (and less 'Russia Today') take on the war.

Afghanistan was a war of occupation against a hostile threat fighting on their home term. Ukraine is an ally receiving support to repel a foreign invader. If you think for a moment that these situations are even remotely the same, you are lost.

Thank you for this incredibly nuanced perspective. One thing I've never been entirely sure about is the degree to which religion plays a role in the broader 'war of cultures' or 'generational war of perspectives', for lack of a better way of putting it.
