Former wrench here and I get asked occasionally from people on what good car to buy. I quit giving advice to them and when you suggest what to buy they never listen and buy what they want.

It's almost like I inspect first on a lift and then next look the rest of the car over. Looking underneath tells ya a lot that 99% of the people never do. Surprised dealer didn't let ya lift it due to insurance not letting people in the shop.

Even today there's some new brands that are too risky.

Coming from GM all my life, I made the switch to Lexus 10 years ago and now own 2 of them. Best brand I've ever owned!

14 RX owner bought at 5k miles with 84k miles now and Amd does the major service on it. Best car I've ever owned in my life and have always been a stickler on PM's. I have Mobil 1 stacked to the ceiling in my basement. Nothing has ever been repaired on the car and just purchased $2k in Toyota branded wear and tear parts for the future. At 60 I hope it lasts me my lifetime. You won't be dissapointed with your purchase! I also own an 18 GS that I bought new. Long live the NA V-6!

Excellent cars, I own a 14 and it's the best vehicle I've ever owned.

I would. You'd have to ask yourself, what are they hiding if they won't let you get a PPI!?

Go to a different dealer.

I would.

He would recommend Toyota brand oil and plugs. He's not a fan of aftermarket unless the OEM is no longer available.

He has clients from all over the country bring their cars to him. I live a 150 miles away and take my cars to him.

I have an 18 F-Sport and it's been great. Get a PPI done to see the severity of the damage done after the repair. Never trust seller when it says minor or cosmetic damage until you see repair yourself, it could have a bent frame etc...

So true

The PPI inspector should've seen that the car had had an accident, if you know what to look for it's pretty easy to spot.

Dealer service history can also be viewed on the car by using the vehicles vin # at any dealership of the brand you're looking at in addition to Carfax... Just visit their service department for a service history print out.

Same here with my 14 & 18 V-6 Lexus's. Have Mobil 1 stacked to the ceiling in my basement, I'm a PM junkie with them.

Being a former mechanic years ago I always get questions from people of what to buy and they never seem to listen to me so, I gave up giving buying advice.

I doubt he'd have a problem with one as long as it checks all the criteria he mentioned in this video.

Always replace in pairs since they're not that expensive.

Always!

Great cars!

Not advisable to buy a rebuilt title car.

Good choice!

He's from Iraq.

But where will we find advice on buying a used horse?! 😁
1
Interesting, I didn't know that, I've always been able to access dealer service history on used cars.
1
Good point, that's what I did but, don't trust the members on the forums because some of them don't know much. I scanned the forums to look for what patterns of issues owners are having with the particular model I'm looking at.

As long as the friend has car knowledge.

Never show emotions to a salesman when buying any car.
