They need to get these ppl off before they're all dead and staff refuses to board

They are lying bc they don't want to promote panic. That's the opposite of what they should be doing, which is to be honest. Lying makes us all more fearful.

China didn't rapidly control SARS, LOL, (as this expert claimed) it went on for at least 9 months, and it didn't spread nearly as easily as this Wuhan Virus is.

They tried that, officials have been outlawing it but the habit is hard to break. Young ppl eat these far less.

Of course the virus is spreading on the ship, everyone can see that, it's spreading via the staff

Well it's controllable in other countries.. for now. In China, officials turned a blind eye when doctors were telling them about the outbreak and so it was allowed to spread. The worry is that this virus will become uncontrollable in other countries too. Look at the effects on China's economy in these last weeks alone.

And it is deadly, at a rate of c. 7-10% it appears. Remember, those who died are from cases reported about 4 weeks ago, so we won't know the actual numbers until it's over. It was the same for SARS. Here in Canada, we had over 400 SARS cases and 44 deaths.

Western countries also don't impose travel restrictions etc the way China can and does. So if this outbreak gets going here, we're in trouble. We do not have surge capacity in our overcrowded Canadian hospitals NOW, and we cannot build new ones in 10 days.

They have asked for help. The main problem was in hiding this outbreak when doctors were sounding alarm bells. They could've contained it in December, but they did the same as with SARS and tried to hide it. At least this time they did acknowledge the outbreak weeks later rather than months. Unfortunately, this virus appears to spread more easily.
