I read about it on the front page of the Newspaper (yup, we still get one), though I had already heard about this phenomena. The article highlighted 3 individuals still coping with the effects; from brain fog, exhaustion, to the feeling of having ants in the toes. That last one was reported by 28 year old NBA player Rudy Gobert. And there are thousands of long haulers, they have a support group in Canada, on Facebook. The article quotes a research letter published this week in JAMA that of 143 people hospitalized with Covid, 87% reported having at least one lingering symptom - fatigue and shortness of breath in particular, but also chest pain, 60 days after onset. Only 12% were completely free of any Covid related symptoms and 44% reported a "worsened quality of life". This virus not only causes acute respiratory distress syndrome, it attacks cells lining the inside of blood vessels in the gut, kidney, heart and brain. Doctors are seeing strokes, brain hemorrhages and diffuse brain injury, kidney failure problems and liver problems. That doesn't sound to me like flu Tim.
This is a virus I don't want to get and I don't think it's inevitable that I will as I've never had flu (and never had a flu shot) and I'm 64.
I certainly will not take a "warp speed" experimental vaccine either. There's no way any reliable safety data can be gleaned in less than 3-4 years of testing.
