At this point it's obvious to me that herd immunity is the only option. The virus is too easy to spread, it's aerosolized. All efforts have proven fruitless and the cost of lockdowns is too high for the economy and the mental health of the young. Those of us over 60 can and are looking out for ourselves. What's most frustrating is the suppression of useful and successful treatments and effective prevention in order to fast track vaccines for massive profits. That's what this is about, clearly.

@thispc721 Yes, my country is one of them. But the problem is at what cost? I've been wearing a mask since March as I disregarded the nonsense officials were telling us. More than half the deaths in Canada were occuring in care homes in spring however now deaths have dropped significantly. The cases are occuring in the under 40s. The problem though is we cannot go on spending the next 2 generations into oblivion and shutting down society, causing the young untold harm. I've changed my thinking based on what I'm seeing and listening to other experts because school children NEED to be in school and businesses have the right to operate. And I don't believe a viable vaccine will be found, certainly not in time, yet clearly that is what this is about. Most countries did not protect the elderly and that was the main failing including in Sweden but other than that, Sweden got it right.

@thispc721 Track and trace needs many staff and simply isn't possible with the high case numbers that the UK has atm. By the time the contacts of the covid positive are reached, they've already spread it to several others. We did it successfully during SARS in Toronto in 2003, but there were only 300 cases total in a 4 month period.

@RealmsOfThePossible In Canada we only have D3 in 1,000 iu capsules 🙄 They won't allow higher concentrations because they say don't take more than 2,000/ day. Ridiculous.

They're developing dozens of vaccines, producing millions of doses before the warp speed trials are even done and soon billions will be made.. they want to make them mandatory for everyone including children who don't even get sick with covid. There's billions and billions in profits at stake and that's what this is all shamelessly about.

Dave Cockayne No, you can't close borders easily. Citizens have the right to return so even if it's technically possible, it's not really feasible from a legal perspective. The other issue is the impact of grounding airplanes. They can't sit around for extended periods. And even if you achieved zero cases as New Zealand did, you'd have to wait til the rest of the world was clear or you just have reinfection if you open. Herd immunity is the only solution. Many countries are almost there. Vaccines are too dangerous and not particularly effective and too far away to be of use.

@garyfumeaux9226 Small correction;.a vaccine doesn't get injected into your veins, the shot goes into muscle. But you're right, I will not be taking it either, not this year or next, not ever.
