@Ladybug923 They teach basic sex education at each grade per the students' level of understanding and they teach appropriate touching, private parts are private etc rather early. Parents can reinforce that instruction at home as well and graphic novels depicting trauma are not ever necessary.

Definitely not at the elementary level, which is what Joy was advocating

I'm glad to be in Ontario as that is not going on here.

@55champions57 The federal government doesn't control education, it's provincial

@Ladybug923 Yes, abuse comes from pretty much everywhere but in elementary schools where they start teaching bodily autonomy early, most teachers are female and women statistically are far less likely to be the abusers. Coaches have protocols in place now (in terms of not being alone with children etc) and plenty of parents in change rooms. I stand by my comments and I have a helluva lot of experience and knowledge in this area by the way.

@whiteymcwhiterson3974 Penthouse? Wasn't that discontinued years ago? FYI do you know the average age children access porn online? TEN. How many parents monitor or screen or have any clue what their kids are exposed to via the internet and even from the phones parents are buying them?

@Ladybug923 I KNOW, only too well. What I'm saying is some parents are quick to point fingers yet they have their eyes closed as to what their children are doing online. They buy them smart phones and tablets but don't monitor the browsing history or site access. I am in agreement that books with graphic sex/rape etc should not be in elementary schools and that children need to be given age appropriate and correct sex ed. as well as safe internet use instruction. And parents should reconsider practises such as sleep overs (my European parents never allowed this and found it very strange), unsupervised house parties and so on.
