  1. My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD last year at age 32 and there are many similarities to high functioning autism. She too is very intelligent and has 2 post grad degrees and a good job yet she really struggles socially. She was able to achieve so much due to learning to mask very successfully over the years though she finds it really exhausting and requires a lot of alone time. Currently she is undergoing psychological therapy and it's helping her tremendously in that she understands herself so much better and is able to feel less guilt and improve her self esteem. I'm very happy that she will likely be able to avoid the periods of depression that sometimes overwhelm her and I'm hopeful for her future.
