@Brandon T There's no way to shut this down, the horse is out of the barn. This virus likely incubates at least 10-21 days (like SARS) so a person can be shedding and spreading the virus without knowing. Commercial interests prevent the closing of international borders.

@TRXLLGE If you want to mask and have it protect you, you'll need an N-95 mask and replace it every hour. Don't forget gloves, also change them often. Oh, and what about droplets that stay on surfaces after a sneeze or cough? These are usually viable for a few hours. Better opt for the bunker.

Authorities try to be calming and reassuring when in reality they know squat.. during SARS they told us that it wasn't airborne when it turned out it was. We cannot trust these people and regardless, there's nothing they can do. Canadian hospitals have no surge capacity, they're going to have to set up mobile hospitals if we get hit hard.

No, ebola's death rate is much higher (30%). This one appears to be at around 10%.

@maxfunevolution3908 At least my family member doesn't work with patients, they work in administration, and also doesn't have contact with the ER. However all hospital staff relies on the ppl who do to be scrupulous in their hygiene and protection protocols. I have no doubt authorities are looking to keep numbers low however not acknowledging new cases won't help to curtail spread. If you arrive at a hospital they have to process you and a doctor has to see you. It's quite onerous to do two tests for confirmation so imagine the extra cost to the health system. I have no doubt those who don't get very ill but still have the virus will go out and potentially infect others. Health authorities should advise the public to stay home at the first sign of any cold like symptoms. Employers make that difficult however.

Don't go out in public once it hits here.. if I were you, I'd stock up on everything

@maxfunevolution3908 Yes there is. Oil of wild Oregano works on everything. In Walkerton it cured a child when he was in a coma and his kidneys were shutting down due to his e-coli infection from the tainted water.. The doctors allowed a Chicago D.O. ( doctor of osteopathic medicine, an MD specialty) to add the oil to his intravenous line. He woke up that evening and was out of hospital, walking, 3 days later. I know the doctor.

I know. I posted that too. I take it with each meal when I travel and never get sick. I'm stocking up on it as we speak.

When has China ever been honest? But at least in this case they reported it within weeks instead of waiting months as with SARS. So this should peak next month and be over by March-April.
1
@maxfunevolution3908 SARS was similarly contagious.

Spanish Flu killed 50 million world wide in 1918. It originated in China.
1
No, they're at the donut shops
1
Of the 25 deaths, they range in age between 48-89, so it looks like this is hitting middle age and up, unlike SARS that got the young to midage.

@Thebohemiangirl1 If you actually come in contact with the virus it saturates the surface and works it's way in given that the surface is porous so you can breathe. Another aspect is it's difficult to wear too. It's not uncommon to want to pull it up a bit on the bottom to get better airflow thereby diminishing it's protection.
1
They are preparing for the worst and part of that strategy is keeping people calm

@maxfunevolution3908 Oh I know very well, I was working in Toronto during SARS and had contact with ppl who were supposed to be quarantined . Fortunately now I'm retired but my kids are vulnerable. A family member works at Sunnybrook where Canada's first case is. Right now there's 2,000 reported cases. That's quite a lot for this early in the progression of SARS 2.0. Its spreading faster.
1
@maxfunevolution3908 The reason the death numbers start out lower is due to the progression of the illness as it takes 3-4 weeks before a person becomes critical and then succumbs. So the current total of those who died got infected at least a month ago when the total number of those infected was also lower. As this sweeps through populations you'll see the numbers shift and towards the end the percentage dying will be a lot higher than they were early on.

It's not North Americans that live under the same roof as wild animals and spend all day with them at farmer's markets, and eat them. Standard farm animals in North America have never been a problem. And they're inspected too.
1
Ah right. I get it now. Shutting down huge economies and sending counties into chaos will solve this!! Did you know flu kills more each year than these Corona viruses?? 🤣🤣🤣
1
So why don't we know the results of these cases they are watching? It should be known by now
1
Right. And what to do when an infected person coughs on you? SARS also stayed viable on surfaces don't forget, and incubated for up to 21 days!!!
1
I'm sure it's here already, I mean, just look at our population's background. Half of Hong Kong lives in Vancouver.

It makes no difference, there's nothing they can do. A Health Minister is nothing more than a mouth piece.

Meta Tegra Yes, it likely would wipe out that virus. Oregano oil is what was used in London's children's hospital on a boy in coma after the Walkerton tainted water situation. No standard meds or antibiotics were helping, his kidneys were shutting down. Staff allowed a US physician to provide wild Oregano oil in his drip and the boy woke that evening and walked out of hospital 3 days later. I know the doctor.

Meta Tegra I wouldn't use it as a rinse in brushing bc even in small quantities like that, it affects your microbiome. The only way to know if it works on this Corona virus is to try it. I've used it to ward off a cold (also a Corona virus) with success. During SARS, I worked in a government office right near hospitals that had cases and we also would see people who just arrived from Asia, every day. One ICU nurse told me just as I finished with her that she came in to get this done bc tomorrow their hospital staff in ICU was going into quarantine as they had treated 2 active cases, unprotected. Nice eh? So she was high risk for exposure and instead of going straight home, she was getting errands done!
