Comments by "Snowbird" (@snowbird6855) on "Passenger quarantined on cruise amid coronavirus outbreak hopes to disembark soon" video.
There's no legal authority to compel them to stay aboard. Their home countries should've been evacuating and then quarantining them from day one. Staff got infected and in turn, have been infecting other passengers. The ship is not a hospital and staff aren't trained nor equipped for this. This is a huge disaster. People have the right to leave and not risk their lives by staying aboard.

@lepq30 The UN is totally useless, everyone knows that. The lives of those on board are just as valuable as those on land. Clearly, "quarantine" on the cruise ship is completely ineffective as it's rapidly spreading among everyone, including staff. The people need to be removed and properly quarantined. Japan is not like China, they do have good hospital facilities and they are capable quarantining everyone as well.

He's got money, he's in a nice room with a balcony

Leopold Canada has universal health care. He will have no medical bills when he gets home no matter how long he stays in hospital. But he won't need it, he's healthy.

That's what's happening, obviously. But all passengers should be removed and quarantined properly, with trained and equiped staff, not left to be "looked after" by cruise employees. The staff has no idea what they're doing and so therefore the virus is rapidly spreading.

It is a pandemic. They can't even keep up with numbers bc they don't have enough test kits.

You should hope they let off the young and healthy ones, they're likely not ill. The older ones get sick first.

@cindif4015 Too late. Over 200 have it due to staff not having any idea how to manage quarantine. They're cruise personel, not hospital staff. They don't have proper equipment either. There will be many more cases too and at least 20 deaths.

The boat can be decontaminated. No one's going to destroy such a costly vessel.

No one should stay. The crew has been infected and are spreading it to other passengers. The staff doesn't have proper equipment and no training on proper hygeine and sterilization. How is food being prepared? This is not a hospital or a quarantine centre with equipped and trained staff. This is the worst disaster so far in this entire outbreak. Well, maybe the decision to initially suppress the information on a new virus that was spreading was worse.

@lepq30 Be that as it may, the virus is spreading among healthy people on board. It's against their human rights, they have as much right to live as those on land. The ship is not an environment where quarantine can successfully be managed. It's spreading via staff (who also is at great risk) and it may very well be spreading through the ventilation.

That's very expensive. It just needs a proper cleaning with the right equipment. It can be done.
