Greece's empire began first, so it is no surprise it fell first which meant more time for its former holdings to fall, and for Greece itself to get poorer (which it is even compared to Spain). The British Empire fell only within the last century. The Spanish Empire fell earlier, so of course its former colonies are weaker, since the current world empire is the offshoot of the British, the USA's empire, which means English is still prestigious and keeps England relevant... for now. Wait for the US to fall in WW3, and see how pathetic England will then be, which it already is now with its capital being Londonistan! :-)
