  6.  @filipemoreira9898  The Spanish Empire, during the Iberian Union when it swallowed the Portuguese politically, was the biggest empire there ever was, for it ruled all oceans with no competent competition, something the British Empire never did. So, no... the Spanish were not small. Currently, Portugal is just the size of a Spanish province.

  9.  @filipemoreira9898  Yeah, it was SO "fully independent," that as soon as they could, they REBELLED AGAINST THE SPANISH EMPEROR! :-) Yes, Portugal still had its empire... but it was controlled by a man more Spanish than German and just as German as he was Portuguese. :-) Tell me: WHERE WAS THE CAPITAL OF THE IBERIAN UNION? Oh, that's right. SPAIN! :-) LOL! Spain gave you a bunch of freedom to make you believe nothing changed after Spaniards and their mercenaries took over your government that fell because your king went to Morocco with his nobles, just to DIE. :-) Portugal betrayed its own religion just for the selfish interest of being independent, yet it has long since been England's subordinate. The Brits kicked you guys out of Africa with their ultimatum. That's what you get for sacrificing Iberian glory for the sake of your region that belonged to Galicia anyway, since your origin is Galicia, rebel. And Portugal boasts in being the best, but never gives credit to Venice and Genoa which made its greatness possible.
