  4.  Eric Moore  I never heard the Caliph explanation for the egymology of California. Interesting. Moro is from those of Mauritania which is an ancient Roman term for what is now Morocco and thereabout I think. The Reconquista's Moors were the ones in mind when my people named the city Matamoros.
