And so there's a panic in Washington because they need boots on the ground(can't fight a drone war when the drones are getting hacked), if the Saudis don't get what they want they might jump ship and start trading oil in other currencies, that would be bad news for the US, the market is saturated in dollars, so if the Saudis and the other Arab gulf states stop using dollars it's say hallo to hyperinflation

I know, but the "beauty" of a pipeline from the Levantine Basin to the Strait of Hormuz is that you can tranport the gas and oil on several parallel pipes back and forth and you get to control both fields with less infrastructure, giant profit margins, hence the war, at the same time you want to cut of the supply through the Red Sea and so you fight for control of Djibouti and Yemen to gain control of the Mandeb Strait, the Suez channel is protected by a miilion treaties, the Mandeb Strait isn't, can't use the Suez Canal if the Mandeb Strait is closed, now you're really in the money, you control the most cost efficient infrastructure to transport oil and gas in the world and you can prevent any oil and gas from moving through the Suez Canal, it's brilliant and pretty fucking evil. The natural gas and oil of the coast of Somalia and Kenya is a bonus. That was discovered in 1989, ever since then there's has been a war in Somalia(because different players want that black gold) and recently El Shabaab(Muslim fanatics) supported by Saudi Arabia and other gulf states have expanded their violent efforts into Kenya.
