This may have been true in the past when the US had the industrial might to do so, it is no longer the case, nor is there a threat comparable to the Soviet Union to oppose, instead the US policy has become merely predatory militarism akin to the British Empire after the Napoleonic war. That did not end well for Britain at all or for that matter the majority of the World at the time.
