First you have to figure out who your mayor, DA, governor, state rep, state senator, members of congress are, you look at the platform of each candidate for public office and make a informed choice, then you can worry about an election that's two years into the future. Four years ago Sanders was an unknown, Trump was a non entity in politics, in two years from now there will be a cornucopia of presidential candidates, but no matter who wins they'll need backing from local, state and federally elected officials, make sure that such officials have an agenda that correlates with yours.
