asliuf Rounds in the presidential election open for all candidates of all parties by elimination the two strongest candidates for the last round to determine the victor. Laws for voter ID, passports would be simple, inform the general public of this and implement.

Cloe Jarozenski But why is it so important to remove the religious crap? By doing so, do you not create conflict needlessly
2
Cloe Jarozenski I would be cool with that, if the majority of tax payers agrees, mind you its better to be practical, start with Buddha and work your way up. Keep in mind also, with a statue of Allah Christians would not be the main concern.
2
Cloe Jarozenski I also wish to apologise for being pedantic, but when commicating in writing something needed to convey meaning is often lost, and again thank you for that, thouroughly deserved.
2
asliuf You would also need quite stringent and fair voter laws, such as a proof of citizenship, a change in how and who registers voters . And again it can't work as long the first past the post system is the law of the land. A change to a presidential election system such as the one the French currently have is probably ideal.

If nobody cared about it, then why the attempts at legislation and the lobbying of private companies?
1
Alex Kosh If you neglect to teach history, the results are people who are unaware and compliant. The origin of different holidays and why they are celebrated is something that has been neglected.
1
Cloe Jarozenski So the name of a holiday mainly celebrated by Christians should be the battle of choice?
1
Cloe Jarozenski Should the names of Halloween, Ramadan and Hanukkah be removed from the public sphere and government buildings?
1
Cloe Jarozenski Are there not more important things that needs to adressed about the role of religion in society than the name of a religious holiday.
1
Cloe Jarozenski Then why remove it from public life, if you erase a word it ceases to be. Once Christmas was Yuletide, but Puritans felt that it was too pagan for their liking and so they advocated succesfully for a change in nomenclature and now nobody associates in daily life Christmas with its pagan origin. They understood fully what they were doing, if you change a word, you police thought.
1
Cloe Jarozenski Again I ask why is it important to combat a word, there are several other issues with religion in civil society that are more worthwhile battlegrounds Do you not see that this only serves to alienate people who could be allies on a multitude of other issues. If the majority of people are against the name change, then why do it.
1
Cloe Jarozenski Let me rephrase that, are against its removal from public buildings.
1
Cloe Jarozenski Then why super impose Happy Holidays.
1
Cloe Jarozenski Off course, but being analretentive about upholding this part of it puts you in the same position as an member NRA and their interpretation of gun rights.
1
Cloe Jarozenski Who are the Tax payers and are you more comfortable with putting happy Holidays on public buildings instead? Should Halloween or St.Patricks day decorations not also be removed?
1
Cloe Jarozenski The people of Boston spend quite a lot of public funds for St. Patricks day, Putting religious symbols on taxpayer-funded property is a clear violation of the establishment clause. By a stringent enforcement of the constitution you would need to ban all public spending on St. Patrick day celebrations.
1
Cloe Jarozenski I believe that was my original point, thats why I repeatedly made it, it's all or nothing, if you ban the spending of public funds from being used for the one in order to be fair it would have to be for all.

Thanks, that was worthwhile.

Your points are valid, but to overturn the result of the election would be a disater for democracy. A change to a system of popular vote would require a lot of other change to create a more representative congress, the winner take all model, first to pass the post would have to be abolished.

asliuf That's the sense I got, but immediately somebody yells, choose teams or else.
