Arrogance and fear is a potent cocktail, the role of the partisan media(FOX, CNN, MSNBC etc...) is keep the fear level high in order to numb peoples reason in order to stop them from thinking and asking the right questions. The arrogance is bolstered by the media in order to create the idea that to question is treason to chosen side.
