  1. Probably because the ten tribes were exiled and vanished. Only two tribes were lsft, Judeah and Levi, who were working in the Temple with no land of their own. Since only Judeah was left on it's land, the Jews were called after him. There was a suggestion to call the new born Jewish state Judeah but finally they called it Israel.

  3.  @lookup4183  I do not understand. To do what? In the beginning there were 12 tribes which the lands were called after them. After that ten tribes were split into two parts, Israel of ten tribes and Jehuda of two: Jehuda and Benjamin.
