  1. How come Israel lost the war of 1973? At the end of it the IDF stood on the other side of the Suez Canal on its way to Cairo. You are right that Dayan was not a big hero exactly as he was not at the six days war.

  2.  @NM_24_7  The IDF stopped advancing on the 101 K'm to Cairo. The reason was not as you described. It was because Russia and the US put pressure on Israel to stop advancing. At that place a cease fire was signed. Only after some years, and after signing a peace treaty, the Sinai Peninsula was returned to Egypt.
