MrFrosmo well actually GMOs are the only effective way to end world hunger in the long term because agricultural development often goes wrong leading to mass production of one crop which destroys the soil causing a chain reaction. For example a partially related issue is that in Africa the destruction of trees and plants for resources has exposed the ground to heat so now much of Northern Africa has been turned into desert and the problem is only growing. This could also be an issue with golden rice though.
