  7. gmanon Of course it was progress. I think your comment deserves a Marxist response. To simplify things Marx argued that capitalism was the next stage of human development after feudalism, however that development has served its purpose and should now be replaced with socialism. Marx also emphasised that his view of socialism was strictly anti utopian, it is simply the next stage of human development.

  8. gmanon I don’t have a clue what you’re on about. Marx was against organised religion, not people having religious beliefs. The only groups that suppress religion are religions themselves. The church can’t even stop itself from censoring other Christians. It might surprise you to know that the Vatican hasn’t been around for the majority of human history, neither has organised religion so clearly it isn’t human nature. What is human nature is cooperation, something the church suppressed for millennia while enforcing feudalism and massacring people of other faiths. It’s also funny that the French Revolution was pretty anti religious. I don’t know about you but I’ll take owning the means of production over being told by someone who claims to be the voice of a man in the clouds that women can’t have an abortion.

  9. gmanon You’re just talking complete nonsense, sorry. You know nothing about the church or the countries you just mentioned. Ever heard of pogroms? It was when the Orthodox Church and Russian empire sent their thugs to massacre Jewish children, after the revolution all religions were treated with respect and the Russian communist party is even pro orthodox. In Cuba the government has done literally nothing to the church and China has never really had a Christian movement but religions still weren’t persecuted there until the government brought in market reforms. Ever heard of the crusades? Feudalism? Christianity alone has killed more in the past 2000 years than any other religions before it. The last 2000 years of human history have been the most violent ever. Individualism is a false concept, we are a cooperative species.

I’m perfectly open to being proven wrong but all I’ve heard her and people around her speak about are capitalist talking points blaming working people and demanding we change our lifestyles while ignoring that 100 companies produce 71% of emissions.
