lee nevin - Most cars of that era didn't even offer seat belts as an option. I once owned a '59 Olds 98, the top of the Oldsmobile line, and not far below a Cadillac. It had power windows and optional backup lights, but absolutely no seat belts.

manhoot - How does that explain the fact that the German autobahn system, which largely has no speed limits at all, have a better safety record than the U.S. interstate highway system, which has no speed limit higher than 80 mph? (TX 130 is not part of the interstate system, but has an 85 mph limit)
